Doolin Celebrant – Welcome!

My name is Fiona Whelton and I am a fully accredited Wedding Celebrant trained with the Irish Institute of Celebrants and Earth Spiritualist Foundation. I am also a member of the Gay Wedding Directory and The Celebrant Directory. I firmly believe that Love Is Love and am proud to say that I am an LGBTQI+ friendly Celebrant.

I perform Civil and Non-Religious Wedding Ceremonies, Vow Renewal Ceremonies, Milestone Ceremonies and Naming Ceremonies. Some of the enhancements that I love to use are Hand Fasting, Sand Ceremony, Unity Candle, Ring Warming and my own personal favourite…Cacao Ceremony.

I am a vibrant and professional celebrant and I would be honoured to be part of your special day. I am committed to bringing you the kind of ceremony you have always hoped for. I want your ceremony to be truly bespoke, full of meaning and personality and one which you, your family and friends will talk about for many years to come. The process begins from the moment we meet, whether it is a virtual or in person meeting and then continues over the weeks and months leading up to the big day.

My Mission & Vision

My mission is simple. To help you celebrate your love for each other in a way that is truly YOU! I am a proud advocate for LGBTQ+ people and passionately believe in the right of individuals to be allowed to express their commitment and love for each other in an inclusive manner regardless of their gender, religion, orientation, ability and/or cultural beliefs.

My vision is that your ceremony will be a true reflection of you both as individuals and as a couple. I want your personalities to shine through. There will be laughter and joy and maybe one or two little tears…good ones though! And I promise that the memories of your magical day will stay with you forever.

Below is a music video that I was recently part of with the singer/songwriter Enda Gallery. He wrote this beautiful song called Take My Hand and we filmed a Friendship Handfasting on Fanore beach.

My Journey To Become A Celebrant

I have a life long love of story telling and hearing peoples stories. It fascinates me! 10 years ago, I took a deep dive into my Irish ancestral history and began to visit and spend time in sacred sites. I love nothing more than being able to intermingle words of Irish into my ceremony and use the ancient traditions and customs such as Handfasting and Fire and Water ceremonies.

My Ceremony Style

My ceremony style while relaxed and fun always has lots of meaning and is deeply personal to those partaking. I always encourage people to include at least one rite or ritual in their ceremony as I truly believe it adds another dimension and helps to connect to each other on a much deeper level. Rite and Ritual has been part of our human existence for millennia and even in modern times, some might even say especially in modern times I see it being so important for connecting to each other and for finding meaning to the ebbs and flows within our lives.
