Discover the legendary love story of Diarmuid & Grainne at Loop Head

Take a spin out to Loop Head during your stay and discover ‘Lovers’ Leap’ – legend has it that lovers Diarmuid and Grainne made their way to lands end in West Clare when trying to escape the army of Diarmuid’s bitter suitor, Queen Maeve. Seemingly trapped when surrounded by water on three sides and the army on the other, they escaped when Diarmuid lifted Grainne into his arms and leaped to an outcrop of rock, now known as Diarmuid and Grainne’s Rock.
In the village of Kilbaha, you can also find a beautiful sculpture made by the artist Jim Connolly based on the love story of Diarmuid and Gráinne.

A great day out for the old-school romantics!
