Meet our Chefs – Ala Puts

In the second of our series of Meet the Chefs, we meet Ala Puts, one of the kitchen team at Doolin Inn. As well as offering the famous “Burren Breakfast”, Doolin Inn also offers a beautiful dinner menu in “Anthony’s”– their evening restaurant.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into professional cookery?
I always cooked for my family. Because I love this process. Now I am a commis chef and I have a good mentor who helps me develop at Doolin Inn. My first profession is HR manager and financier. My skills help me to think quickly, analyze and notice the most important things. It is also good to communicate with other employees.
Tell us about where you work in Doolin and your favourite thing about your job.
I work at Doolin Inn. I like our friendly team, the atmosphere of the establishment, the work schedule and the dishes that have to be prepared for the restaurant’s guests.
What is your favourite dish to make at work and why?
I love making tacos and langoustines. I like to dress up my tacos nicely with sauce and cilantro. This is a very tasty, healthy and beautiful dish. I like to arrange langoustines beautifully on a plate. It is like such an artistic process. When your dish becomes beautiful and appetizing.
Tell us about your favourite local produce.
I like langoustines and dishes with local fish.
What is your favourite thing about Doolin?
It is a beautiful place near the ocean. It is wonderful. And there are very nice places where you can relax, eat delicious food and have a great time.
