Meet the B&B’s – Sheedy’s Doolin Boutique B&B
Personalised hospitality will never go out of fashion in Ireland. In Doolin, our B&B’s are famous for providing that personal touch to their guests. There are few places in Ireland where you will receive the hospitality that you do in Doolin. Our B&B members have been welcoming visitors to Doolin for a long time ,some of them are in their 3rd generation of running a B&B business. And they have some great stories to tell.
As well as gaining invaluable local knowledge when you stay at a B&B in Doolin, you are also guaranteed superb food, luxurious rooms, and an Irish welcome like no other.
In the fifth of our series of Meet the B&B’s, we meet Marian from Sheedy’s. This boutique B&B is the result of years of planning and has all of the most up-to- date features and amenities. It also provides one of the best breakfasts in Ireland!
How long have you been running this B&B, and what do you love most about it?
I trained in Hotel Management and spent many years working both at home and abroad. My dream was always to have our own business in Doolin. After years of dreaming and planning Frank and I opened Sheedys Doolin boutique B&B in 2019. Being a family business both our children got involved in the project. Our son Jack (studied architecture )was very involved in the designing of the building and our daughter Blathnaid (studied marketing) is our social media/marketing expert. Every day is different. Every day is a wonderful challenge greeting new guests and welcoming back repeat guests.
What's your favourite local dish or beverage that guests must try while they're here?
Doolin has a variety of top class eateries ranging from pub food, bistro’s and high end fine dining. It is difficult to choose a favourite but I do enjoy Fish and Chips with a glass of wine for a casual evening.
How do you ensure guests feel at home and comfortable during their stay?
Meeting Bertie on arrival sets the relaxed homely atmosphere. His charismatic lazy personality sets the tone from the get go. Even non dog lovers fall for his charm. There are some “hairy” stories I could tell about him but not on a public platform 🙂 🙂
Do you have any personalised experiences or special surprises for guests staying at your B&B?
Life is casual and relaxed at Sheedys Doolin and an early riser is always welcome in the kitchen for a coffee and chat before breakfast with Frank as he does his morning baking.
If a visitor has only one day in Doolin, what activities and places would you recommend to make the most of their time?
Doolin has so much to offer – cliffs walk or cruise. Trip to the islands. Explore the Burren, the Burren perfumery, nightly traditional music in the many pubs. I love assisting guest to plan their days in this special corner of the world so that their time here is as memorable as possible.
When planning Doolin don’t short change yourself – plan for 2 nights minimum.
Located in the centre of Doolin village this purpose built B&B is within 5 minutes’ walk of all the village has to offer. Luxurious accommodation and an array of gourmet food for Breakfast. National winners of the Irish Breakfast award in 2020 by Georgina Campbell Guide.
