There are few places in Ireland where you will receive the hospitality that you do in Doolin. Our B&B members have been welcoming visitors to Doolin for a long time ,some of them are in their 3rd generation of running a B&B business. And they have some great stories to tell.
As well as gaining invaluable local knowledge when you stay at a B&B in Doolin, you are also guaranteed superb food, luxurious rooms, and an Irish welcome like no other.
In the second of our series of Meet the B&B’s, we meet Sinead, Pascal and son Jake from Twin Peaks B&B. At Twin Peaks B&B, you can look forward to luxurious accommodation and a home away from home.
How long have you been running this B&B, and what do you love most about it?
I run the B&B with my husband Pascal. Jake is the newest addition to Twin Peaks and turns 6 this year! He likes to show guests to their rooms and even corrects me (Sinead) if I forgets to tell them the wi-fi password! Jake knows what’s what and when it’s happening in Doolin.
Can you share a memorable experience with a guest that encapsulates the essence of Doolin hospitality?
A great story of kindness and helpfulness was when one of our guests fell and got hurt after falling off the footpath. Two wonderful people from Mayo, brought the guests back to Twin Peaks and then onto A&E in Ennis to get her checked out. They sat with her while she got Xray’s, boot for her foot, brought her to the pharmacy, and all the way back home again. These wonderful people, on their day trip to Doolin, took the full day to help our American guests and would not hear of us going to Ennis. They spent the whole day together. Random acts of Kindness story which had a huge impact on the experience of our guests in Ireland. They could not believe that anyone could be so helpful and kind to total strangers.

What's your favorite local dish or beverage that guests must try while they're here?
A must try, I couldnt pick just one!
Ivy Cottage– The Seafood chowder
Fiddle & Bow Porn Star Martini
O Connors Pub- the Mussels
McGanns – Lamb Shank and The stew!!
McDermotts– The chicken curry!

If a visitor has only one day in Doolin, what activities and places would you recommend to make the most of their time?
To get the true and full experience you need to stay a couple of nights in Doolin. You need time to experience the pubs, Doolin music house, walk with Pat Sweeney is a highlight and Blackie O’Connell on the pipes. Guests come year after year to see Blackie!

Can you share a local secret or off-the-beaten-path location that travellers rarely discover on their own?
People come to Doolin and we hear all about our guests experiences with the kind & nice people in Doolin. People of Doolin are warm and welcoming. People help with directions and people have great patience is some of the feedback we get from our guests. The biggest regrets our guests have is not staying more nights. You need more time to try all the different options for food in Doolin alone before you start on the things to see and activities! Start at McDermotts and make your way home is our advice! . Experience the different music, different Musician’s and the atmosphere is different in all bars but all warm and welcoming with fabulous music!
