Moloney House B&B

Cead mile failte – A thousand welcomes to Moloney House, a four star bed and breakfast in the heart of Doolin. Only a hop, skip and jump from the start of the cliffs of Moher coastal walk, the famous Gus O’Connor’s Pub, and the Doolin Pier to take a ferry out to the Aran Islands or Cliffs of Moher cruise. Our home is situated on a 50-acre beef suckler family farm and overlooks the 500-year-old ruins of Doonmacfelim Castle to the rear of the home across the Aille River. Moloney House underwent an extensive renovation in the winter of 2018 in the guest rooms and en-suites as well as the guest sitting room and dining room. Your hosts, Frank and Mary Ellen, want to ensure your trip to Doolin is a memorable one. They are on hand to arrange bookings of restaurants, excursions, golfing, walking tours and more. And they will be sure not to send you out the door hungry before you start your adventure. Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast buffet and made-to-order hot entrees. However you choose to enjoy Doolin and the surrounding area, we hope Moloney House reminds you of the comforts of home.

Your Hosts

Frank was born and raised on this land. His parents opened up the first registered bed & breakfast in Doolin in the 1960s. He is a third generation beef suckler farmer. Though hospitality and farming have always been in his blood, Frank has a passion for cooking. He trained in college in Galway before working in restaurants in Ireland and England. He returned home to Doolin in 1988 and a couple years later he built Moloney House.

Mary Ellen was born and raised over 3,500 miles away in the great state of Illinois, U.S.A. After almost 20 trips to Ireland for both business and pleasure she found herself in Doolin at Gus O’Connor’s pub enjoying a mighty Sunday traditional music session and an order of fish and chips (which she will argue is the best in Ireland!) when she met Frank. From that point on the rest is history – she left Washington, DC after 13 years for her new home in Doolin. Though Frank loves cooking, Mary Ellen loves baking so guests are always in for a treat!

There is also a hair dryer, television, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, as well as free Wi-Fi in each guestroom.

Breakfast at Moloney House

When the sun rises, we welcome our guests to enjoy breakfast in the dining room. There is a beautiful buffet spread of cereals, natural yogurt, fresh fruit, stewed applesauce or rhubarb (hand-picked seasonally from the farm), Mary Ellen’s blackcurrant jam paired with homemade brown or banana breads, as well as juice, teas and coffee. Frank, a trained chef, cooks the made-to-order hot breakfasts.
