Fly to Shannon Airport
Where possible we recommend flying to Shannon Airport, a small, modern & accessible airport, located under 65km or 40 miles from Doolin – less than an hour’s drive. For direct routes, timetables & info check out: – shannonairport.ie
Hire a Car
If you’re anxious to ‘see it all’ at your own pace, it’s best to hire a car. There are a number of hire companies located at the arrivals terminal in all airports.
Top Driving Tips!
- We drive on the left, you’ll soon get the hang of it!
- It’s mostly ‘stick-shifts’, you can expect to pay a premium for an automatic car, particularly in high season.
- Irish roads can be narrow, particularly along the wild Atlantic Way, opt for a smaller car & say no to ‘upgrades’!
- Don’t forget your GPS! We are 53° 0′ 57.7044” N and 9° 22′ 38.7120” W.
A popular way for small groups and families to see Doolin & the Burren, is to hire a private driver. Tours are built around your ideal Irish holiday and are a great way to immerse yourself in the culture and meet the people who know and love the area.
If you’d prefer to sit back and let someone else do the driving, Doolin is served by a national bus service. From Shannon Airport take the 343 Bus to Ennis, then transfer to the 350 route which has 4 stops in Doolin.
